Our Customers’ Stories

Having more than 37 years of experience in the industry, we’re able to build a strong relationship with customers. Our company was able to save a lot of customers who needed a helping hand, and now we have become one of their trusted couriers.

Their Cases

Each package we’ve handled made us who we are today. Every case we have encountered meant a lot to us. Our customers’ stories have become a part of us!

◉ The Case of the Marooned Yacht

A yacht that was scheduled to sail next week from Florida to exotic ports has broken down and needed a new, rare imported motor. There was only one other of these motors available in the States, and it was sitting on a dock in Toledo, Ohio. It’s a massive engine- fills the interior of a cargo van- and weighs a couple of thousand pounds. A Metro-dedicated driver picked it up Friday, and by first thing Monday morning, the mechanics were hoisting the motor into the Yacht in Florida.

◉ The Case of the Last-Minute Mirrors

Without a steady stream of rear-view mirrors, production will shut down at a Detroit auto assembly plant. At 2 am, private planes began ferrying consecutive shipments of mirrors “hot off the line” from Tennessee to DTW. Metro drivers met those incoming planes, delivered the mirrors to the assembly plant, returned to the airport, and went through the night.

◉ The Case of the Chinese Coffins

An entrepreneur purchased 42 Chinese coffins and was distributing them to funeral homes in Southeastern Michigan. The delivery was in a truck, all piled up Chinese-puzzle style, so they had to be unloaded by hand and stored for several months until the funeral homes get more clients. Metro Drivers passed the coffins down off the truck and stored them spookily in our secure warehouse, to be distributed as needed. Talk about Final-Mile Delivery!

◉ The Case of the Retired Big Game Hunter

Forty-seven fearsome stuffed African animal trophies were hung on the walls and crouched in the corners of a private estate. They were cautiously removed by 2 Metro animal handlers, loaded carefully into a van, and headed to an auction house in downtown Detroit.

◉ The Case of the Appropriated Keys

“I don’t know if you do anything like this, but I’m in Melvindale and I took my husband’s keys to work with me and I don’t have time to go back to my house in Hamtramck and he can’t get to work himself without them and can you help?” Sure, no problem, Metro will be right there.

◉ The Case of the Remaining Briefcase

An executive left his briefcase, full of proprietary materials, at the meeting site in Ann Arbor. The plane was in the air carrying the executive to Chicago while the suitcase was traveling below on the ground, secured in Metro custody, headed west for a same-day reunion with the owner.

◉ The Case of the 539 Batons

Our customer needed multiple integrated routes of 539 time-sensitive, medical deliveries that required pickup and delivery within a 15-minute allowance, scheduled daily, with special handling for various freight – high value, climate-controlled, fragile, bulky, and bio-hazardous. They wanted responsiveness 24/7 and specialized training, and customized pricing.

They got it! Metro ran the relay race daily, and we’ve been running it for well over a decade- passing those batons along

◉ The Case of the Cases of Bananas

A mountain of bananas loaded on a broken truck was going to rot unless we find somebody to deliver them bunch-by-bunch to 150 convenience stores all over Michigan’s lower peninsula.

The PR guy who told that story was plenty stressed. Those bananas were the centerpiece of its produce promotion, already heavily publicized, so more was at stake than a monkey’s lunch.

Banana bread is not an option. Suffice to say, those bunches of potassium-loaded, self-wrapped goodies got to their multitudinous destinations with no slips via Metro Delivery.

◉ The Case of the Endangered Penguin

There was peril in the penguinarium when a mysterious disease was detected in the colony at the Detroit Zoo! Metro Drivers worked through the night and delivered samples every few hours directly from the zoo to the best research laboratory that the University of Michigan offers.

Our zoological roster doesn’t stop there. We can transport all kinds of veterinary specimens, lab animals, and pets, as approved under the U.S.D.A. guidelines.
